DRACONIC (+Reptilian)
- East Asian/Chinese Dragon
Long, wingless dragons, commonly found in East Asian artwork and stories. Similar to species of snakes, they grow for their entire lifespan. Generally found to be benevolent, they are covered in a mix of fur and scale, and sport various shapes of forked horns. Though their colouring spans the whole spectrum oh hues and shades, sighting a dragon with a golden scale colour is said to bring immense luck and fortune. Often can be found residing in water.
Three subspecies exist.
· Lesser Chinese Dragon
The smallest of the three subspecies, identified by only having three toes. Live 500~600 years, and grow to max lengths of 40~60 feet. Despite the name, the Lesser Chinese Dragon has a more abundant population than the Common Chinese Dragon.
· Common Chinese Dragons
These dragons are identified by having four toes, and a larger body size. Generally live 800~1000 years, and grow to max lengths of 100~140 feet.
· Greater Chinese Dragon
The largest of the species, sporting five toes and an impressive lifespan of 2000+ years. Confirmed sightings size these dragons at up to 300+ feet, though some dragons have been rumored to be a mile long, however the truth to that fact is unknown. Out of the three subspecies, the Greater Chinese Dragon has the fewest numbers. - EUROPEAN DRAGONS
These dragons are generally categorized by having scales, four legs, two wings and the ability to breathe fire. Although any dragon that falls under these parameters can be called a European dragon, there are many different species both known and unknown.
Drakes are a subspecies in themselves, generally depicted as your typical medieval dragon. They are generally known for their immortality and their very low breeding rates. There are of course exceptions to the known species.
· Green Drake
Are by far the most common of the drakes, their coloring ranging from deep emerald to light moss green. They are for the most part the smallest of the drake species.
(When fully grown)
Length: 15-20 feet
wingspan: 13-17 feet
They are normally found in Eastern Europe and are thought to originate somewhere in the United Kingdom.
· Red drake
Are larger than green drakes and are generally fewer in numbers. Generally they are colored anywhere from deep burgundy to fiery red. They are every known to fall closer in color to orange.
Their most prominent character trait is probably their deep routed need to hoard. (Which is harder and harder to do in the current world)
(When fully grown)
Length: 25-30 feet
Wingspan: 19-23 feet
They are normally found on cliff faces and are thought to originate in warmer climates like Spain or Italy.
· Black drake
By far the largest of what can be categorized as Drakes, Black drakes are considered rare. They are generally colored anything from a dark gray (tinted in a range of colors), to an ebony black.
It is often theorized that their rarity is due to their calm and mellow nature so they were hunted close to extinction in early years. This of course is just speculation however.
(When fully grown)
Length: 40-45 feet
wingspan: 30-35 feet
· They are generally thought to originate in the Scandinavian countries. Because of their thick hide and hot blood, they have the ability to thrive in cooler temperatures. They have also been known to hibernate. - Wyverns
Any dragon with two wings and two legs could be categorized as a wyvern and despite there being many different species, nearly all of them have scales and webbed wings. Generally they are average sized as dragons go but can range anywhere from 10 feet long to 30 feet long. Unlike most species of drakes, Wyverns exist in tight family units. They hunt and raise nests together. Many hatchlings often decide to stay with their family well into their adult years.
Wyverns originate everywhere across Europe even straying into Asian countries (Although oriental wyverns are generally smaller than their European counterparts.)
HUMAN-BODIED
- Dryad
A creature in the Fae category, that will often pass as human in it's earlier stages of life. As they age, their bodies lengthen and grow tree-like attributes, including hardening bark skin and branch growths, until their later life cycle they fully become a tree. Lifespan is roughly 200 years till they root themselves in and transcend into a purely plant based existence. After rooting and leaving behind their conscious self they can live on for many years more. Their life cycles are split into four main stages:
· In their first stage, they are very akin to humans, though a keen eye may find them a little off from the norm. Light bones, pointed ears, single colour nearly-black eyes, and undertones of light blue or green set them apart. These traits however are often overlooked by most people, and can fit themselves into society should they choose or be forced to leave their natural forest habitats. Average height ranges from 5 to 6 feet tall at this stage.
· In their secondary stage they begin to develop their tree attributes. Dryads in this stage can be identified by a pair of wings sprouting from their backs. At this point their heights start to reach above 6 feet and they are often compelled to travel seeking a new place to cultivate a forest.
· In their third stage, they begin to seem more plant than animal. Variances in growth differ greatly from one Dryad to another, some growing additional arms while others grow great reaching crowns of leafy branches. At this point in their lives, their wings have become heavy and they can no longer fly.
· In their final stage, they root themselves down amongst the forest they've either grown up in or propagated all on their own. At ease, they fall into a deep slumber. These Dryad trees tend to keep a magical air about them for many years, though over time it fades, and one would not be able to tell one from a regular tree. - Pixie
These fae are small and always buzzing. Their body is similar in form to a Harpy, having two wings for arms, though their legs are shaped more towards human than bird. Because of their speedy nature, they often get mistaken for humming birds. they tlak a lot of shit and are really entitled tbh. what jerks.
They tend to live in moderate to large colonies, of up to 30 members.
Their lifespan is quite short, only living for five to eight years on average. - Pygmy Fairy
smaller than pixies but coem with a bite. they dotn talk so much because they're too busy devouring bugs and biting people they don't like.
have dragonfly-esque wings and have a few other insect features that lacks in all the art of naked buttyfly wing ladied sittign on mushrooms.
MAMMALIAN
- Hellhound
Large hounds, with thick fur coated in natural oils that are highly flammable. Due to their fur and skin being fireproof, they have the ability to turn themselves into a living fireball for short periods of time. Average lifespan is between 17 and 23 years, grow to five to six feet (ears included), and weigh in at around 300 pounds.
